carbon_X
carbon_X is a generative artwork of the results of the Honeycomb Function, where thousands of particles trace a simple two-segment rule in polar rotation.
Every particle follows the same two-segment path:
-
First: 11 “units” horizontally, tilted at 40°
-
Then: a straight 19-unit horizontal segment
This broken line is repeated infinitely in one direction, then rotated around the centre at fixed angle steps 1°. The result is a dense polar lattice of paths radiating outward like a monochrome mandala.
Controls
-
Click – Move the origin; all paths re-spawn from where you clicked.
-
+/=– Increase particle size. -
-/_– Decrease particle size. -
START button (in popup) – Enter fullscreen and hide the UI so only the artwork is visible.
This generative art-piece is a live field showing the trajectory of carbon, the basis of life as we know it.
